What is the first thing I should I do to plan for my move?

The first thing you should do before embarking on organizing your move is to select an experienced and reputable mover to move your personal effects and household goods to your desired destination. Raffles Movers will arrange for an appointment for our move consultant to visit your residence at your most convenient time and date. He or she will be able to provide you with all the information pertaining to your move.

How do I select a mover?

To ensure that you are accorded a cost effective, fair & comprehensive quotation for a professional relocation, you may want to call on at least three reputable companies to conduct a pre-move survey. You will then be in a well informed position to assess the different companies' services, price and estimation. Ensure to be aware of any hidden costs and other charges at the destination.

This is a very important component in the price structure as well as a determining factor on the method of shipment. Our quotation will clearly state all the services that are to be rendered. How do I confirm my acceptance?

To confirm your acceptance, you should fill up the Acceptance of quotation form and fax it to Raffles Movers at your earliest convenience.

Upon receiving your acceptance form Raffles Movers will confirm and acknowledge your acceptance in writing.

How should I prepare before the packers arrive?

Before the packers arrive, you should decide exactly on what you want to ship, dispose, or give away. A little organization on your side will very much minimize stress for you and your family.

What is a LCL shipment?

LCL shipment means Less than a container shipment. When your volume does not warrant a full container, your shipment can be shipped by LCL method. Your loose packages will be crated into made to measure wooden liftvans before being shipped.

What is a FCL shipment?

FCL shipment means Full container, where you have the exclusivity of a sole container. Your packages will be directly loaded into a container at your residential premises before being shipped.

What is a groupage shipment?

Groupage shipments are based on consolidating multiple shippers’ household effects in a single container. This is the most economical method but is subjected to load availability. This service is available only for selected destinations.

Should I insure my goods?

While we ensure that, only the highest quality of packing and professional handling is accorded to your household effects, there could always be a probability of damage during Door to Door transit.

Raffles Movers International provides ‘All risks’ full replacement value insurance coverage for loss or damage of your household effects (subject to terms). Yes, we would highly recommend you to take up the transit insurance to for your invaluable goods.

Does the insurance provide coverage for my jewelry, watches or stamp collection?

Insurance companies generally do not provide coverage for these items and you are advised to personally carry them with your self to minimize any loss.

Does the insurance provide coverage for my items that comes in a pair or set?

Yes, you can exercise an option to take up additional coverage for items that comes in a pair or set. This coverage provides compensation to replace to the whole set in the event of damage beyond repair.

Will the insurance provides coverage for internal mechanical & electrical derangements of my electrical goods?

Yes, you can exercise an option to take up additional coverage for any internal mechanical or electrical derangement at an additional premium for your electrical goods. This coverage provides compensation to repair or replace your electrical goods in the event of malfunctions.

How do I make an insurance claim in the event of damage or loss of my goods?

In the event of a claim, you are simply required to submit a written claim to the insurers within 30 days from the day of delivery. Raffles Movers will assist in expediting your claims.
